Ragnohacks: Ottawa's first in-person high school hackathon

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is a place where teenagers come together to code their wildest, wackiest project ideas into reality and meet new people doing the same!

Over 24 hours, you'll complete fun side quests, hang out with new people, and build projects for fun, not for judges. You don’t need coding experience—just an open mind.

Eligibility

Anyone in high school is welcome, even if you have never coded before! There's more to a hackathon than code.

I have never coded before, can I join?

Yes! You don't need any experience. You can be writing your first line of code at Ragnohacks, just bring an open mind!

We'll have workshops and mentors to help you along the way, and there's more to a hackathon project than just code!

Is this free?

There is no cost to participate in Ragnohacks thanks to our sponsors, and that includes food and swag!

If you need help paying for travel costs, the Hack Club Gas Fund is available if you're driving, taking public transit, or a train.

Do I need a team?

Nope! We encourage you to work with folks you've never met before. Although you can still be with your friends, we'll have team-building activities to help you find a team.

Teams can be up to 4 people.

What should I bring?

You'll need to bring a form of ID (more info soon), your laptop with chargers, a water bottle, sleeping bags, and anything else you need to pass the night.

Also bring your passion to learn and build something awesome!

My parents are worried, what should I do?

We'll have 24/7 supervision by background-checked adults, with venue access limited to participants.
